ShanKri-la Sports a New Look
For those who are following ShanKri-la via your RSS reader, we are sporting a new look! As much I loved the old theme, it had a few flaws that bothered me. I have been in the lookout for a new & clean theme and I finally found one this weekend.
Here is a little sneak peek of the new look! Let me know what you think.
Here are a few things I did:
- Upgraded to WordPress 2.3
- Cutomize the excellent Saur them a little bit
- Upgraded WordPress Plugins to their current version
My good friend Stephen Cronin just tagged me in his first meme named ‘How Do I Improve My Blog‘. This is excellent timing by Stephen. I will follow up with the meme post with reasons for my upgrade and how I hope to improve ShanKri-la.
I wouldn’t be so motivated without your ever increasing support. So, I thank everyone of you reading ShanKri-la and I hope to be showered with your love in the future as well.

Well, look at you and your fancy schmancy new look! Very nice buddy. I guess that bad ankle gave you some sit-down time to tinker with things.

Thanks a lot, Mark! It’s true that I have a lot of downtime with the sprained ankle. I have been postponing this for a while but finally got around to doing it. Glad you like it!

OMG, very nice! I REALLY REALLY like this new theme!
Couple quick comments:
In IE6 (which most companies still use) it looks like your Commenttext field extends the width of your theme causing stuff to go into the sidebars. You might need to set a maximum width to it. Otherwise, everything is much better, as I had major troubles viewing your site in IE6 from work with your old theme.
I am in awe at how you fill up two sidebars! I have trouble filling up one. Hehe

Thanks a lot Kyle! I love the clean layout this offers and I think it’s much easier on the eyes.
Thanks for the heads up on the IE trouble. As much as I write about Firefox, Firestats show me the % of IE readers are more than Firefox readers. It’s probably because most Firefox users are reading ShanKri-la through their feed readers. So, I do pay attention to IE users. Appreciate the tip buddy.
When it comes to sidebar, I am like a kid in a candy store. I have to fight myself not to add more stuff than what i have now. I might do away with SU & Del.icio.us feeds if I find no one using it.

I wouldn’t worry to much about catering to IE6 users. Due to a table I added on my site, I had a sidebar problem with IE6 on my website. I just got around to fixing it this last weekend when I updated the related posts section. I think if you add a maximum width to the comment text field (or whatever this field is called) should fix the problem hopefully. Right now, as I type, some of my words are getting hidden behind stuff on your sidebar and I can’t see what I’m typing
Everything else is really good!

I have been trying to get to Browsershots.org since last night but it appears to be down. I guess I would have to try your suggestion out tonight when I go home.
Glad to know everything else is looking good!
Thanks for reminding me of the Related Posts section. I need to add that too.. I particularly like the way you have done it.

As Mark mentioned, my sprained ankle has given me a bunch of time I have been wanting for a while.
Thanks for the encouragement and 12 thumbs up!
