Madhur, if it does it’s minimal. It’s got a little bit of ajax majic as you can see it fetching from your feed to display the current post. I think the incentive it gives is much more to me personally even if it does a little bit.

Seems to me it’s time to install Commentluv plugin on my own blog as well.

Me to strongly believe in dofollow thats why i have removed nofollow attribute from my comment field and backlink field but is it possible to add commentluv or some simmiler plugin to blogspot.com blog?

KeywordLuv is an awesome plugin and in my opinion it benefits both – the blogger and the commentator. It gives a real incentive to write a comment and it makes the comments of people who want to use their own keywords not so spammy. In normal Do-follow blogs you always have the risk of your comment being deleted just because it is considered spam when you do not use your real name…

I’ve got CommentLuv installed on my blog and am really liking it, it’s a great reward to people who take the time to comment on your site.

With regards to dofollow – I used to have this on my site, then back in December made my site nofollow again – I’m really in two minds as to whether to go back to dofollow.

I’d love to get more comments on my site, but would it mean having to spend more time checking for spam comments? Does anyone know if Google have made any indications that they disapprove of the dofollow movement? – I’m thinking they could start penalising like they did for paidlinks as they could say it’s distorting their index rankings?

I like the idea of KeywordLuv with or without dofollow and will take a look at that for Zath – cheers!

I’m personally not a big fan of NoFollow myself (it has uses), although what would be a nice treat is if there was a way to manage the URLs that you allowed to follow and the ones you didn’t want followed. Some nive code the change the link code so that if someone is on your blacklist they don’t get Follows no matter how many links they try to spam you with.

I am a big fan of the CommentLuv plugin. However, I don’t like KeywordLuv. I think if people are using keywords as the link text they are obviously only interested in the link. If they are posting ‘legitimate’ comments it is probably just because they know they will get deleted otherwise.

I really like these plug-ins. It gives value to the person who’s spending their valuable time at your site, and benefits your site by encouraging participation and increasing user-generated content. I don’t have a whole lot of time to spend reading blogs, and you can bet I’ll spend that time on the blogs that give me the most value in return.

It’s a good idea to use a spam plug-in like Spam Karma at the same time, to keep out the riff raff.

Congrats on the high PR. I am not a highly experienced blogger and neither an IT expert, so this entire game of nofollow and dofollow is making no sense to me. One could say that is the way it is and to deal with it. But comments that simply say nice post or great job, simply dont mean much to anyone — other than to the commenter whose sole purpose in life seems to be getting backlinks. I personnally comment only if I have an opinion whether agreeing or disagreeing with the subject matter and if I can bring something to the table. If you give me some link love great; if not thats fine too. It is like helping some poor soul with a flat tire on the highway; you can choose to help or not but if you do to get some money in return, then that becomes a paid trade and not the work of a good samaritan. The reason I started blogging was to share my thoughts on a little known technical subject. My goal has not been to make millions out of it. You could add another layer of spam filtering with the WP-Recaptcha plugin. I use it on my own blog. When this plugin combines with Akismet, a lot of spam doesn’t even make it to moderation.

Most spam appears to be trackbacks, though.

Comments are a wonderful thing to receive on your blog, adding the dofollow plugin is one way to reward but why not place a link to their last post under their comment, with CommentLuv, you can do that automatically! This is an excellent way to promote comments from your readers.

Its really a good move. Especially for the genuine commentators and owning blogs. I don’t understand if “no-follow” is a way keeping away spammers then why comments go into moderation. Of course blog owner will approve only if its valid and value comment to his/her post. I have blogger though and looking to implement this into my own blog(s).

Sire, have you tried maybe picking Stephen Cronin’s (the plugin’s author) brain a little about your issue with the plugin. He is a great guy and might be able to give you a pointer or two.

It is totally counter-intuitive but I think KeywordLuv actually results in better quality comments. You would think it would be all spam, but it isn’t. I think it is because such commenters understand better than most the relationship between link building and blog owners.

keywordluv is so great. Did you know, I add do follow plugin in my blog, and people starts commenting. Amazing!

this is a great decision, but this generosity on the webmaster’s part can result in lots of spam on the website. But as Michael (comment #124) states correctly, many people make an effort to post quality comments instead of spamming the sites.

The combination of keyword luv and comment luv has to be one of the best things that has happened. People finaly can get a link to post on blogs easy and control terms for main page at same time.

when I start knowing this plugin, it sounds great, I tried on my first blog and gain a good impact and increase my PR. but you know since Google and other Search Engine always change their algorithm rapidly. I think it would be better to find some topical blog to niche. just to get long run impact. not just up and down again..

My only worry about going do follow is that it will lower the value of my site. I’ve read that the more links leaving your site reduces it’s cache with google making it harder to move up in rank. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I too am a big fan of of these plugins and dofollow blogging in general, but to be honest I have had to implement a dofollow policy to combat how many spammers comment. If you only run one blog this might not a be big chore to clean up, but when you have 12 blogs of your own and are paid to manage others comment spam can take up a lot of time better spent blogging or napping. I would recommend it for anyone though, not just full time bloggers.

I use nofollow free and give commentaters nofollow of their website at between 1 and 4 approved posts depending on the blog’s PR, but context links links are still nofollow. For registered users who can use my site forums, get author profiles with more dofollow links, submit material for guest posts etc, they all get immediate dofollow on all links contextual and otherwise.

Keyword luv and now comment luv have to be the 2 most popular plugins around right now. they seem to help both the blog owner and commentor. The blog owner gets new comments and the comentor gets a link to latest post or site.

so if it is true than how a blog with dofollow plugins can maintain their healthy pagerank?

Thanks for sharing this, I’m not all that familiar with Social media, networking and participating on blogs for backlinks as thus backlinks now a days are so week in googles algorithms, and I also believe comment links will be even weaker soon as it is not all that much different from paid links. But with this plug-in one is not buying links for money but rather a nice comment. one can take advantage of it while it lasts and commenting her and there is just nice.

I began my blog using commentluv but then stumbled onto Disqus do you have any opinion on Disqus? It seems to be more of a social feature rather than a pagerank sharing/commenting reward system. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the two…

While the do-follow is much sought after these days, a no-follow will still get you some traffic as well, depending on the niche of the site which you leave your comments on.

What is the advantage of comment luv? It seems like the owner of the blog gets new content in the form of comments?

WP is the way to go. It seems they have a plug in for just about everything. I use both WP and Blogger blogs and WP is by far the best blogging platform. The do-follow movement is the best thing for bloggers to support each other.

Keywordluv is a great way to get more visitors to your blog, since i downloaded the plugin my site has had many more comments. I do want to add that most of the comments are thoughtful and not just a ‘nice job” response

aww how come keywordluv was discontinued here? I think its the best thing to hit blogs, and also i heard it helps reduce the spam from bots too

Good piece. I’ve made the mistake of starting out my blogging with blogger before realising wordpress was really the way to go, with CommentLuv being one of the main reasons. Blogger are starting to catch up a little with the range of plug ins available but it’s probably a little too late now.

I agree with one commenter who said that CommentLuv is one of the top reasons to use WordPress. However, I don’t think it’s the only reason. After all, WP is easy to use, it’s powerful and it’s free — those are equally good reasons.

I also use the commentluv and dofollow plugins on all my WordPress sites. I found these plugins really great as it helps to bring more traffic to my sites. By the way, I haven’t seen Keywordluv as available plugin to WordPress site. Any suggestion please? Thanks.

This is actually Disqus not Comment Luv, and the page is PR2 not PR5. That’s the home page of your blog. Plus the link juice gets divided by the number of links from the page.

I really appreciate this review post. I have been using CommentLuv for so long but of recent, I came across this blog and I saw the premium functions and it ‘wowed’ me. It is really a nice way of getting comments and at the same time, having your commenters promote your blog posts. I will be going for the premium very soon.
