We looked at some nice Firefox extensions that would help with shopping last week. I have some more finds fresh off the oven for you here.
- FlickrFox: FlickrFox lets you browse Flick photostreams in a sidebar in Firefox. You can manage groups, search for tags and explore Flickr photos right from yoru sidebar.
- Drag & Drop.io - Drop.io is a very cool file sharing site. As the name implies, you can drag and drop files to upload them. [demo video]
- Tab Sidebar - Tired of the tab bar in your browser? With this extension you get a sidebar with thumbnails of all your tabs and it even provides options like history, stop and reload for each tab.
- Digg - The uber popular Digg has a new Firefox extension that lets you submit content, browse stories and Digg. Personally, I think it takes a fun out of visiting teh website, but heavy Digg users might like this.
- Google Calendar Notifier- GMail Notifier has been a popular extension and now you can get similar notifications of your daily events as well as upcoming all day events with Google Calendar. Maybe this will make me start using GCal again.
- Locator - Just highlight and right click on any address to see it located on Google Maps. Very handy if yu do this multiple times in a day.
- FEBE - FEBE is my favorite Firefox backup extension and you can read FEBE review here. Now, FEBE has added the option to automatically upload your backups to the free online storage service, Box.net.
Firefox 3.0.2 is slated to be released on September 2nd with more bug fixes. If you haven’t already, take a look at our Top Firefox Extensions list that has categorized favorite extensions.

These are pretty cool especially the Google calender notifier - well needed.
It makes you wonder why anyone would still be using IE right now!

olly, 40% of my readers still use Internet Explorer. Makes me wonder if I should crank up my Firefox posts more. LOL
Dear readers, we still love you no matter what browser you may use.

K, olly - we get about 70% of our readers using IE. I think in the less tech-savvy markets people just don’t bother trying other browsers (or understand why it’s a good idea)
Cheers, Jon

Drag and Drop.io makes me love the service even more. Thanks!

Nice selection, but I don’t quite see the purpose of FEBE? Is it just for people who don’t want to have to manually reinstall plug-ins in case they have to reinstall Firefox?

I just upgraded to Vista recently and since I love FireFox so much, of course I downloaded it. I was running an earlier version on my old XP system but I’m now using the newest version of Firefox and some of my favorite extensions don’t even work! Including StumbleUpon and ColorZilla…
p.s. I just noticed your comment previewer…really cool…only thing, it doesn’t take into account KeywordLuv being installed…that would be a nice feature I s’pose…
anyway…great post

I might have to try out that tabbed sidebar. Although, in flock, much of the stuff is already available as a sidebar, but I almost never have them open.

Jon, I think that is in line with IE’s browser market share. You are right that most people don’t want to steer away from what they are used to. IE is their web’s security blanket.. although that term is so wrong in so many levels. LOL
Syahid.. Drop.io is an awesome service and they are gonna get more people using it now just cuz of this add-on.
Will.. FEBE is not just for backing up extensions and themes. It can backup your complete Firefox environment (profile). You can choose to backup bookmarks, preferences, passwords, history, cookies, etc or your complete profile! It also helps you to keep multiple computers have the same config easily.
keith, my wife uses SU and Colorzilla in Firefox 3/Vista without any issues. Wonder what is causing your problem. And yes KeywordLuv is a relatively new plugin and Live Comment Preview doesn’t see that yet. Maybe we should hit up the author with a request,

izwan.. thanks for that tip!
Andrew.. it is very cool indeed. Although it refused to upload my 50MB profile backup to Box.net. It had no problem uploading 30+ individual extensions and other files though.
Todd, true.. Flock is a different beast and definitely meant for people with a widescreen monitor if you want to utilize all the sidebar goodness that comes with it.

Great job on the plugin reviews. I just installed the Digg one at your suggestion. What would be really cool if there was one toolbar which had all the popular social news sites in one spot. there’s so much toolbar clutter one needs a toolbar organizer of some sort. Tabbed toolbars maybe?

I like the look of locater. Looks very handy. G maps coverage is getting pretty good down in my unpopulated part of the globe also.
